Dada Amrtananda

Before joining His mission, he was a teacher. In Krishnanagar DMC of early sixties, Baba asked the dada in charge to give WT creation report; the in charge dada replied in negative. Then Baba indicated towards him and asked that the dada should take him to training center. Hearing this Amrtananandajii immediately joined the WT rank.

Amrtanandajii will always be remembered as one who laid down the foundation of Ananda Marga in early sixties. With no place to stay, sleeping at times on railway platforms or waiting rooms or in temples or dharmashalas, they worked hard to build the base of this global mission, now having jagrtis in every nook and corner.

He worked almost in all areas of India, but his favourite area with hundreds of initiates is northeast India. He was suffering with diabetes and high bloodpressure. He was under treatment for a long time and was in and out of hospital. He did not like remaining as patient and in spite of all persuasion not to travel, he used to travel to his favourite destinations to do some work of His mission. He passed away on Monday in Guwahati (Assam) Government Medical College at the age of 76.
